DesignLoop is a Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) research laboratory dedicated to exploring the intersection of human-centered design and emerging digital technologies with a profound commitment to community partnership. Our work centers on Co-Design, recognizing communities—especially those in rural settings—as knowledgeable, valuable partners. We move beyond designing for people to rigorously designing with them. This approach ensures that the interactive systems we build and study are not just functional, but are contextually relevant, deliver on the promise of improving lives, and promote local ownership. Operating within a critical feedback loop, we design, build, and evaluate new systems to generate ethical, equitable, and actionable knowledge, directly informing the next generation of human-technology interaction.
